Oldsmobile Cutlass

Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais

The Oldsmobile Cutlass was the most popular and best selling of the G-body automobiles. Unfortunately, this also helped earn it the "most stolen" title throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Only recently has it dropped off the "Top 10" stolen list.

Oldsmobile introduced the Cutlass in 1961. Over the years, it was Oldsmobile's flagship car. The G-body Cutlass was produced in Arlington, Texas. The Cutlass' last production year was 1999.

For several years Oldsmobile was able to boast about having the best selling car in America. Who would have thought that 10 years later Oldsmobile would be ending production of the Cutlass and calling it quits. Oldsmobile's ad campaign touting "This is not your father's Oldsmobile" backfired. Not only did it not attract younger buyers, it alienated the older ones. Sadly, General Motors phased out the Oldsmobile division.
